Richard Dalton

Richard's field of expertise lies within counselling and psychotherapy. In this work, he brings passion to his core values of warmth, compassion, authenticity, the building of trust, collaboration, cultural sensitivity and safety, and respectfully creating a safe emotional space for his clients. Richard builds strong connections by non-judgmentally validating his clients, to enable them to connect effectively with themselves and others, and thereby feel deeply listened to and understood. In cultivating a strong therapeutic alliance, he is able to collaboratively guide his clients to a place of clarity and insight.

Richard draws from his experience of working in the field of alcohol and other drugs, and its effects on general health, relationships, family dynamics, and complex mental health issues. His work is informed primarily through his orientation towards Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Schema Therapy, and Attachment Theory. Additionally, Richard also works within an integrative framework, via a range of other theories and approaches.

Richard brings significant life experience to his role as a therapist, and was previously engaged creatively in his own photography business for many years.  In the earlier part of his working life, he was successfully engaged in a lengthy management career at a large nation-wide logistics company.
