John Dallimore

John has over fifteen years experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist and is a certified Hakomi therapist.  Bringing a gentle, patient, respectful, loving presence to the counselling process, he believes in the importance of supporting clients to feel that they are not alone in their struggle.  They experience feeling listened to, understood, safe, deeply heard and accepted for who they are. His work enables clients to become empowered through a greater understanding of themselves, their mind and body connection, increased hope and a sense of other possibilities.

John has taken a great interest in developing expertise in the area of breath. It is his belief that how we breathe impacts how we experience difficulties in life, particularly with challenges such as anxiety and depression.

John’s has particular expertise in the areas of:

  • Couples and family relationship work

  • Grief

  • Personal growth

  • Hyperventilation & Breathing Pattern disorders

  • Chronic anxiety, panic and pain

  • Mindfulness and body centred therapy

  • Difficulties for fly in fly out workers and their families

Of particular influence in John’s therapy, is his work as a certified Hakomi therapist.  Essentially, Hakomi is an experiential psychotherapy that is a mindfulness-centred approach to self-understanding.  As an extension of his work, John reflects a commitment and respect for all humanity and it’s suffering, the importance of connectedness and a genuine desire to make a difference.

John is a Level 4 member of the Australian Counselling Association and a qualified clinical supervisor.
